Using the Quizizz application to increase student motivation and engagement in online learning in the COVID-19 era

This study investigated the implementation of Quizizz during the COVID-19 remote learning period at Hanoi University of Industrial Science and Technology. Both quantitative (survey) and qualitative (semi-structured interviews) methods were used to evaluate the effectiveness of Quizizz as an online assessment tool and to gather students’ perspectives.
The study found that Quizizz successfully improved student engagement and academic performance through its interactive features and immediate feedback mechanisms. Students particularly valued the game-like interface, competitive elements, and the ability to review and retry questions. The study concluded that Quizizz was valuable not only for academic assessment but also for increasing student motivation and creating an interesting online learning environment.
These findings suggest that Quizizz can be an effective tool for formative assessment in EFL classrooms, especially in distance learning situations. This study provides useful insights for educators who want to implement engaging online assessment methods that promote both learning and student motivation.
